Richard Cooke
För tidigare deltagare på musikveckor är Richard en mycket välkänd profil som i över 25 år lett körer i Sverige i olika sammanhang.
Till Richards viktigaste egenskaper måste räknas hans förmåga att på en knapp vecka ta en tidigare osammansjungen kör, direkt inse på vilken höjd den musikaliska ribban kan läggas upp och sedan föra kören till en optimal formtopp på konserten.
Hans långa erfarenhet som körsångare gör repetitionsarbetet till ren underhållning med målande positiva förebilder och anekdoter blandat med kreativa kollektiva förolämpningar med högsta finess.
Självklart har han också berikat det svenska körlivet med mycket engelsk körmusik som med stor sannolikhet skulle tagit god tid på sig att hitta hit annars.

Richard Cooke
Richard Cooke is Conductor and Music Director of the Royal Choral Society, London, and before that was Conductor for ten years of the London Philharmonic Choir.
He is a familiar figure in Denmark and Sweden where he has worked with the Gothenburg and Helsingborg Symphony Orchestras, and appeared with many different choirs and orchestras over a period of 26 years. He frequently conducts in London at the Royal Albert Hall, and also appears at the Royal Festival Hall and the Barbican. He has recently recorded Orff's Carmina Burana and a Last Night of the Proms with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, both CDs released recently as part of the Royal Philharmonic Collection series.
He sang as a treble for five years in the choir of St. Paul's Cathedral, London, and as a tenor in the choir of King's College, Cambridge For 22 years he directed an annual music festival in his home town of St. Columb Major in Cornwall, though his connection with Cornwall now consists mainly of surfing on the North coast.
He has worked in collaboration with the many of world's leading conductors, including Solti, Haititik, Muti, Mehta, Bernstein, Abbado and, most notably, the late Klaus Tennstedt. He has received a Grammy award and four Grammy nominations, most notably for his work as Chorus Master for Tennstedt's spectacular recording, of Mahler's Eighth Symphony, and for Haitink's recording of Vaughan Williams' A Sea Symphony, both of which were also voted for top awards by Gramophone Magazine.

He has conducted in many European cities and gave many concerts with the Opera de Lyon choir and orchestra, where he was choirmaster for three years until 1995, and appeared also in the Aix-en-Provence festivals of 1992 and 1993.
